Staying at home activities

Hello my friends,

how are you? I hope you are all safe and healthy!
Until a few days ago all the things around the corona virus were still abstract for me and seemed so far away. But now it’s affecting us all and uncertain times are awaiting us. We are instructed to stay at home and we feel confined. But still we have to do the best out of it, right? And to be thankful that we have our homes, something to eat and the possibility to interact with the ones we love at least in a digital way.

So when I thought about all this, I found some ideas for this time closed at home I want to share with you.

  1. Focus on indoor activities.
Read the books you want to read, make a list of films or series you want to watch. What about the classic film Citizen Kane for example?
Or try to learn a new language, sketch, stitch, crochet… The things we can do alone are a lot.
  2. Write a To-Do list with all the things you want or need to do and work it off.
As we are all used to spend our time as efficient as possible some activities come up short. This can be the sorting of your digitally saved photos or your clothes. A To-Do list will help you to remember.
  3. Eat well and try new recipes. This might sound strange, but I don’t mean you to search in 5 super markets for the ingredients of a new dish. Be creative and make the best out of the things you have and search for new ways to eat and to arrange your food.
  4. Find a place in your home with some fresh air and a bit of sun. This “not going out” is hard for us and for our psyche, but it is for our health, too. So when you don’t have a garden, then make your balcony or the place in front of a window to this place outside, where you can get fresh air and sun and the feeling of being outside.
  5. Spend quality time with your family. Play, laugh, be creative, do handicraft, invent your own games, make some sports. We should do this always, but in tough times it seems to be even more important so that we feel stronger together.
A lot of these activities can be made digitally connected, too, by the way.
  6. Take care of your mental health and try to handle this time closed at home in your own way. Maybe you like to write about these times or paint or draw, the way you handle it depends on you, the important thing is just that you do it, so you can stay positive.

Maybe you have already read these tips I thought of before, but I still wanted to share them with you. If you have more ideas, let me know. Together we are stronger!

Take care of yourselves, my friends, and stay safe and healthy.

Yours, Thea
