Geometry and I II

Hallo my friends,

how are you doing? There is just a little more of this weird year 2020 left, how are you feeling about it? And have you already ordered one of the charity calendars for 2021?

I have to admit that I feel really happy to write this blog post today, because it shows a progress in my artistic work and a change in my relation to geometry.

A few weeks ago I reflected about my anxiety using a compass for creating an islamic geometry eventhough I admired this art form from the very beginning. Read about it here: https://theademilos.de/?p=441

Today I can tell you that I have finally beaten the fear and just began with a first attempt. Soon the second followed and I’m already thinking about trying to create a third pattern tonight.

I probably won’t be the one digging very deep in this artistic field, but it is really relaxing, at least after the pattern is created. 🙂
Furthermore it gives me more opportunities and I already have some ideas for paintings in which I want to use islamic geometry as well. I’m just saying geometry and flowers – stay tuned to see more. 🙂

So here you can see my second attempt to islamic geometry. A pattern I did after a tutorial by Marzieh Kaviani and in which I already started to put my own thoughts and shaping.

Finally – as a beginner – I can say that islamic geometry offers three main advantages to me:

1. I get challenged by having to create a pattern in which I see just lines over lines in the beginning.
2. At the same time it is a very captivating process that resembles to meditation – in the painting part even more. This brings me closer to me and closer to God.
3. It opens my art to an unknown and very beautiful field I have the possibility to use if I want to.

What are the reasons you feel attracted by islamic geometry?
Please let me know in the comments below.

Stay happy and creative!
Yours, Thea
